The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer treads territory previously unchartered by the German automaker. With its front-wheel drive layout and spacious cabin, it will be gunning for victory against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class.
At the international launch of the Active Tourer, BMW announced that it will be arriving on South African shores in the first quarter of 2015. Indicative pricing was also revealed. The line-up will comprise four derivatives: the 218i (R378 000); 220i (R391 000); 220d (R422 000) and the 225i (R440 500).
Given the vagaries of the global economy, expect actual prices to vary slightly when the car does arrive. It is right in the realm of the B-Class, whose prices range between R373 900 for the starter B200 and R420 700 for the top-tier B250.
