In case you don’t know the Mazda MX-5 RF is basically a fastback version of the standard MX-5 roadster. It comes with a three-piece retractable roof that, when stowed, leaves the rear buttressed section in place. Which kind of gives it a silhouette not dissimilar to that of a 911 Targa or a Lotus Elise. We like it. We think it actually looks better than the standard car. We can also tell you that production of the RF has officially begun at Mazda’s Ujina plant near Hiroshima. The first examples will go on sale in Europe and North America early next year while South Africa will get the MX-5 RF in the first half of 2017.
