Toyota South Africa has introduced a meaner-looking version of their top-selling hatchback: the Etios Sport.
If you were expecting power gains, you might be disappointed. The sportiness is limited to the aesthetic side of things. Under its hood sits the same 1.5-litre engine that does duty in the rest of the range, producing 66kW and 132Nm of torque.
The Etios Sport is available in four colours: Sparkling, Retro Red, Super Blue Metalic and Midnight Black. It has new additional features such as a front spoiler, body-coloured side skirts, rear bumper spoiler, roof spoiler and distinctive badging.
The cabin benefits from an upgraded tech-enhanced, double din audio system similar to the one fitted to the new Etios Cross. This unit comes with USB and AUX-in ports and adds extra functionality in the form of Bluetooth to facilitate hands-free mobile phone operation.
Other niceties include colour-coded exterior trim (mirrors and door handles), front fog lights, remote central locking, electric windows all round, air conditioning, power steering, headlamp levelling system, seven cupholders, 13 litre-refrigerated glovebox, door-ajar warning, seatbelt warning, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and an immobiliser.
The Etios Sport is on sale right now at R153 500 but is limited to just 200 examples.
