According to a report on website sport360.com, Volkswagen is sending an Audi representative to an official Formula 1 meeting scheduled to happen this Friday 31 March. Its purpose is to discuss the future of the sport’s engine regulations – probably due to ongoing dissatifcation with the current crop of V6 turbo motors that have been de rigueur since 2014.
Although Audi’s intentions remain pretty vague at this point it time, the firm’s presence may well mean that they are indeed interested in entering the Formula 1 fray sometime in the near future – most likely as an engine supplier. It’s an intriguing development: one that will no doubt be elaborated upon over the next few days. – Thomas Falkiner
