Jaguar will hop aboard the premium SUV bandwagon with the new F-Pace. The manufacturer chose the Tour de France Grand Depart in Utrecht as the stage for the model’s first public debut, without the testing camouflage.
Well, it’s still concealed for the most part – donning a specially created wrap with the Team Sky cycling livery, which is sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover. But the general shape and design cues are quite visible. The production model is set to be fully unveiled later this year.
The F-Pace was prepared for its role as the Team Sky support vehicle, replete with a bike rack that employs a telescopic clamp. If their aim was to curry favour with the world’s cycling fraternity, they seem to have been successful. According to Team Sky’s head of technical operations, “The appearance of the F-Pace prototype definitely added to the hype today, you could see it made a big impact with the crowds.”
