Graphically the slope of hatchback buyers is steeper than that of its sedan counterpart. Seeing that consumer’s love has switched from sedans to hatchbacks over the years, manufactures are bolstering their arsenals with more hatchback offerings.
Joining the club is Opel. This year the Germans have released at least three hatchbacks in form of Opel Adam, Corsa and Mokka. Now the next addition is the Corsa Sport, a five-door hatchback aimed at the enthusiastic driver. And until the OPC version arrives, this is the most potent Corsa you can have. The new 1.4-litre turbocharged Sport boasts 110kW at 5000 rpm and 220Nm of torque at 3000 rpm.
The Corsa 1.4T Sport is equipped with a petrol engine from Opel’s ecoTEC family of small engines. It can dash from standstill to 100km/h in just 9.6 seconds. Top speed is 204km/h/. Claimed consumption is rated at 5.9l/100km. It has six speed manual transmission. The sporty looking Corsa doesn’t compromise on safety. Features include electronic stability control, traction control and straight-line stability control. An optional package adds park assist and blind spot detection.
Some of the features inside include an IntelliLink infortainment system which enables smartphone connectivity. It also comprises Bluetooth, USB and Gracenote music management technology.
